The Edufinet Project, promoted by Unicaja Banco and Fundación Unicaja, joins one more year the celebration, on Monday 4 October, of the Financial Education Day, an initiative promoted this year under the motto ‘Your finances, also sustainable’, fostered by the Bank of Spain and the National Securities Market Commission (Comisión Nacional del Mercado de Valores, CNMV) in order to raise awareness on the importance of financial literacy. For that purpose, Edufinet has organized several activities, both online and in person, to be developed until next Friday.

In particular, the activities developed by Edufinet to join this initiative promoted since 2015 by the Financial Education Plan, prepared by the Bank of Spain and the CNMV, include the presentation of the new web portal EdufiAgro and of a videogame on basic financial concepts for primary education students aged between 8 and 12, who will also be able to attend workshops on financial education. In addition, the project will organize its traditional Lectures on Financial Education for Young People (secondary education and baccalaureate students), the Financial Olympics and the Edufinet Congress.

On Monday 4, from 11.30, an event will be hosted at Unicaja Center for Financial Education in Malaga, with the participation of the Head of the Edufinet Project, José M. Domínguez -who will talk about the history and challenges of this initiative-, the General Manager of Fundación Unicaja, Sergio Corral –who will focus on the importance of financial literacy, analyzing the current situation and trends-, and the Head of Sustainability and CSR at Unicaja Banco, José María López –who will talk about the role of sustainable finance in financial education-.

The event will be streamed online on the Edufinet Project’s YouTube channel, and the Head of Financial Education at Grupo Unicaja, José Antonio Díaz, will present the programme for the Financial Education Day, with activities aimed at teaching citizens to make sound financial decisions.

After those talks, members of the Edufinet team will give a lecture on financial education for baccalaureate students, with focus on sustainable finance, circular economy and some financial products and services.

This event will take place on Friday 8 at 10:30.

The Lectures on Financial Education for Young People and the Financial Olympics will be presented on Tuesday 5, also via streaming on YouTube, at 10:30. These activities reach their 13th edition and will take place between October and March, with the goal of providing students with a clear view of the world of economics and finance. The 5th Lectures on Financial Education for Vocational Training Students will also take place this school year.

On Wednesday 6, from 10:30 and via streaming, the 4th Edufinet Financial Education Congress will be presented, with information on the programme, topics, speakers, moderators and participants in this event, which will be held in person and online on 17, 18 and 19 November, under the theme ‘Financial Education for a time of paradigm shift’.
