Unicaja Banco, once the merger with Liberbank has been completed, has become the main sponsor of Club Balonmano La Calzada de Gijón for the season 2021-2022. This involves the change in the name of the club, which will be known as Unicaja Banco Gijón and the adaptation of the team’s kits and the image and advertising established in the sponsorship agreement.

Liberbank became the handball club’s main sponsor in the season 2018-2019, giving name to the team participating in the División de Honor league since 2016.

Since then, Club Balonmano La Calzada has been runner-up in the Spain Supercup 2018, winner of the Minicopa Cadete 2019 and third in the league season 2019-2020. It also won the Queen’s Cup in 2018 and some of its players have been part of the women’s national team.

A commitment to Asturias sports that Unicaja Banco will maintain, within its commitment to the home regions and its support to sports and sport practice, under the framework of its Corporate Social Responsibility.
