Unicaja Banco has organized a series of conferences with actor Jesús Vidal, who won a Goya Award to the Best New Actor this year for his role in the film Campeones (Champions). The talks will be held on Valladolid, Salamanca and Leon on 16, 17 and 18 October respectively, and will focus on how to overcome every day challenges, focusing on strengths instead of on weaknesses. Entry will be free of charge, but an invitation will be required.

Born in Leon in 1975, in 2019 Jesús Vidal won one of the awards of the Spanish Academy of Film Arts and Science, the Goya Awards. With a visual impairment of 90% due to myopia and total blindness in one eye, he got a bachelor’s degree in Spanish Language and Literature and a master’s in Journalism at the EFE agency. He was a trainee at the Sport section of the said agency and at the website of Diario de León.

He then left journalism and for some time he has been able to combine his studies at the Centro Dramático Nacional (National Drama Center) with courses at other performing arts schools. Theater actor and director, he has written and directed several shows, such as Sala de espera –where he also plays a role-, a play premiered at Teatro Albéitar in Leon in 2015 and featured at the Jornadas de la Federación Nacional de Arte y Discapacidad in Madrid.

In 2018 he got a role as supporting actor in the movie Campeones, directed by Javier Fesser. In the said movie, he played Marín, member of a basket team made up by people with intellectual disabilities.

Campeones won the Goya award to the best film and also was the biggest box office hit in Spain last year. Jesús Vidal won the Goya award to the Best New Actor. In 2018 he also received the award of the Círculo de Escritores Cinematográficos (Cinema Writers Circle) for his role in the said film.

He currently collaborates with the TV show Zapeando and performs in the theater play Alguien voló sobre el nido del cuco.

In the conferences organized by Unicaja Banco in Valladolid, Salamanca and Leon, Jesús Vidal will talk about everyday challenges to find happiness, and will explain that everybody can overcome difficult situations by turning our weaknesses into strengths to move on.

The talk in Valladolid will take place on 16 October at 20:00, at the Concha Velasco hall in Laboratorio de las Artes (LAVA), in Paseo de Zorrilla, 101. The talk in Salamanca will take place on 17 October, at the same time, at Unicaja Banco Theater (plaza de Santa Teresa). The talk in Leon is scheduled for Friday 18 October at 20:00, at Unicaja Banco hall (calle de Santa Nonia, 4).

Invitations are available at the bank’s branches. Access is subject to venue capacity.
