Unicaja Banco reaffirms one more year its support to young creators in the videogame industry with its participation in the Gamepolis Videogame Festival, to be held from today until Sunday 21 July, in Malaga. The bank will sponsor one more year the Zona Indie. This event, whose seventh edition was inaugurated today at Malaga Trade Fair and Congress Center, is regarded as the largest event in the gamer world in Andalusia, and a reference in the country.
As the only financial institution sponsoring Gamepolis 2019, Unicaja Banco will be present this weekend in the demos of the independent works of national companies (games, new developments, etc.) and at the second edition of the Fortnite tournament –the largest competition of this game organized so far in Spain-, with a customised bus identical to that of the game. Participants in the tournament may get up to 6,000 euros cash prizes between the two competition modes that will take place during the event.
With the main sponsorship of Unicaja Banco and Andalucía Emprende, and with the support of University of Malaga (UMA), DEV and the magazine Hobby Industria, Zona Indie at Gamepolis intends to take the pulse and support the development of videogames in Spain. The attendees may win three prizes of 1,000 euros each. This area aims at giving visibility to new creators and their projects, to allow them to set bonds with the community of players and to get a valuable feedback from gamers and from companies in the sector, developers or media.
During this event, Unicaja Banco will draw a Nintendo Switch among all its customers under 35 years of age who visit Gamepolis and upload to Twitter or Instagram a picture of their visit to the festival, with the hashtag #TerritorioGamer and tagging @espaciojovenuni. The bank also offers its customers the possibility to get tickets for this festival with the Young Card or with Children Accounts.
Unicaja Banco’s participation in this event falls within the support that the financial institution provides to entrepreneurship and to new emerging business models, as well as to young digital talent. For these projects, the bank includes among its financing products the First Company Loan, as well as other lending products for studies on these areas, such as the Préstamo Matrícula or the Préstamo Máster (loans for university tuition fees or for master’s degrees).
The collaboration of Unicaja Banco with this festival also falls within its support to sport and leisure events which, as Gamepolis 2019, gather thousands of young people interested in new technologies and e-sports, as well as the within the support to the design, organization and promotion in the area of entertainment and technology. Likewise, this collaboration is part of the actions carried out within the framework of the digital transformation fostered by Unicaja Banco.
Activities of Gamepolis 2019
Gamepolis has become a must-attend event for international companies, developers and professionals of videogames. The different areas cover all the aspects of gamer universe: in the Expo, Indie, Retro or Fan Zone E-Sports, visitors will enjoy a wide range of activities, including tournaments, cosplay competitions, workshops and lectures by renowned professionals, exhibitions or concerts.
Those visiting Gamepolis will have the opportunity to play exclusively the latest releases by Nintendo, including the highly anticipated Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield, which will be released on 15 November.
As for conferences, these will cover a wide range of topics, such as the importance of Final Fantasy VII in the videogame industry, the importance of communication and marketing to sell your projects; the current situation of the Spanish journalism specializing in videogames; and meetings with professionals from big brands such as Ubisoft and Microsoft.
E-sports will be other of the highlights of this edition, with players and teams competing for over 30,000 euros in prizes in tournaments of ‘League of Legends’, ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops IV’ or ‘FIFA 19’.
