Unicaja Banco aims at the youth and families with this leisure activity, joining sports, fun and solidarity.

Unicaja Banco promotes in Salamanca the Unicaja Color Road (www.unicajacolorroad.es), to be held on 21 October. It is a 5k race, full of color and fun, as the runners will be showered with colored powder during the run. The race has a charity component, given that it collaborates with a donation to programs developed by UNICEF to assist children.

The activity was presented today in Salamanca, in an event attended by Unicaja Banco’s Regional Manager Manuel Rubio; by the Sports Councilor of Salamanca City Hall, Enrique Sánchez-Guijo; and by the Sports Councilor of Santa Marta City Hall, Silvia González. UNICEF coordinator for Castilla y León, Rocío Gutiérrez was also present.

Unicaja Banco wants to make this event affordable to children and to the youth. For that purpose, promotions have been designed to offer free bibs. Customers under 28 years old or new customers will get a free bib too if they apply for a free card, or they can exchange the points from children accounts. Young people with an account at Unicaja Banco can benefit from a totally free account, debit card and access to e-banking and mobile apps, with no fees.

The race will start from the esplanade in front of the Indoor Athletics Track La Aldehuela and will cover a distance of 5 k, through La Aldehuela, Soto Island, Santa Marta de Tormes and will finish in the same start point. It is scheduled at 13.30, but runners are recommended to attend half an hour before to warm up. In each kilometer of the route there will be a color zone, a place where runners will be showered with colored powder.

At the end of the race, music and color will reach its peak in a festival where participants will relax and enjoy several hours of fun and music. Also, a zumba exhibition will be held and the sponsors will organize activities such as a paella for all the runners.

The participation of Unicaja Banco in this charity run is part of the support that it gives to the social fabric and to charities, with special focus on assistance to children. It also falls within the attention it pays to sports and children, so as to put at the disposal of this group the benefits of sports and those habits that can contribute to their integral development.

It will be possible to acquire a ‘donation bib’, whose proceeds will be fully for this UNICEF Project.

Unicaja Color Road (www.unicajacolorroad.es) is a charity, sporting and untimed run, where no special physical condition is required and with no winners. All that participants needs is interest in doing something different and for fun. It is a 5k race, for all publics: children, teenagers and adults.

How to participate in the race

Participants can get free or discounted bibs by using the different promotions available on www.unicajacolorroad.es. Bibs can also be purchased on that website.

When buying the bib for the Unicaja Color Road, each participant collaborates with the development of UNICEF programmes. Collaboration is also open through the purchase of ‘donation only bibs’ (dorsal 0) available on the website, consisting in the donation of one euro to UNICEF.

The funds raised with this initiative will be allocated to projects and programmes developed by UNICEF in more than 190 countries and territories to improve health, nutrition or access to water for children. In this sense, 1 euro –the donation for each bib to UNICEF- allows to purchase a pack of 6 soap bars, and to promote hygiene measures such as hand washing in key moments to avoid the contagion of diseases like diarrhea or pneumonia. With 3 euros, an under 5-year child can be treated for three days against malnutrition. With 5 euros, UNICEF vaccinates 3 children against polio and 5 children against measles.

Promoted by Unicaja Banco, the following institution collaborate with this race: Salamanca City Hall, Santa Marta de Tormes City Hall, University of Salmanca, Confederation of Salamanca Business Owners, Salamanca Chamber of Commerce, Confederation of Business Organizations of Salamanca, Coca Cola, Avenida Basketball Club, Adarsa, Enjoy Salamanca, Driving School El Pilar, Origen Fire & Securiy, Hall 88 and Fundación Luna.
