The award ceremony to the Business Family will be held on 29 November.

The EFCL association is also organizing a meeting with the cyclist Alberto Contador, to be held on 5 October at the European University Miguel de Cervantes.

Unicaja Banco signed today two collaboration agreements with the Castilla y León Family Business Association (EFCL, Empresa Familiar de Castilla y León) and with the Castilla y León Family Forum. Under these agreements, the leading financial institution in Castilla y León will sponsor the XVII Castilla y León Business Family Prize, granted by the family business association, as well as the training activities for the youngsters in the business families organized by its Family Forum.

The collaboration agreements have been signed by Unicaja Banco Regional Manager, Manuel Rubio, by EFCL Director, Eduardo Estévez, and by the President of the Family Business Forum, Francisco Iglesias Gil.

Both agreements give continuity to the traditional link of EspañaDuerto to this association, with over 150 leading family businesses from the nine provinces of the region, with a joint turnover equivalent to 21% of the GDP of the Autonomous Region and employing 9% of the region’s private sector working population.

The collaboration falls within Unicaja Banco’s interest in fostering the business and entrepreneur fabric, to facilitate the economic boost and to support employment in the areas where it operates and, in particular, in Castilla y León.

The XVII Castilla y León Business Family Prize will be awarded on 29 November. Last year prize went to the Zarzuela family, owner of the company Zarzuela, S.A, managed by three generation of entrepreneurs from the same family and which, through its 76 years of history, has created around 3,800 employments.

Unicaja Banco’s collaboration with Castilla y León Family Forum will also contribute to the training activities of the latter, aimed at the young members of the companies part of EFCL.

One of its forthcoming initiatives is the meeting to be held on 5 October, at the European University Miguel de Cervantes, with the cyclist Alberto Contador, winner of two Tours de France, two Giro d’Italia and three editions of the Vuelta Ciclista a España, after overcoming a stroke in 2004.

Castilla y León Family Forum

With nearly one hundred members aged between 18 and 35, the Family Forum’s activities seek to guide and provide information to the young members of Castilla y León business families who may have managerial or ownership duties in the companies associated to EFCL.

Castilla y León Family Forum was established in September 2000 by EFCL, following the concerns expressed by family business owners regarding the need for their successors to receive specific training on the features of family businesses, to ensure their continuity and to raise awareness of their role in generational renewal.
