With its exclusive presence as a financial institution at Gamepolis 2018, Unicaja Banco will be present this weekend in the demos of the independent works of national companies and at a Fortnite tournament, with a customised bus identical to that of the most popular game of the moment.
Unicaja Banco’s participation falls within the support that the financial institution provides to entrepreneurship and to new emerging business models, as well as to young digital talent. It also shows its support to the young and to sport and recreational activities gathering thousands of young people interested in new technologies and e-sports.
Unicaja Banco collaborates and participates one more year, from Friday to Sunday 22 July, in the sixth edition of Gamepolis Videogame Festival, by sponsoring the Zona Indie. Gamepolis 2018, inaugurated today at Malaga Trade Fair and Congress Center, starts its sixth edition as the largest videogame festival in Andalusia.

Gamepolis Zona Indie comes back this summer with the main sponsorship of Unicaja Banco and Andalucía Emprende, and the support of University of Malaga (UMA), DEV and the magazine Hobby Industria. This space intends to take the pulse and support the development of videogames in Spain. The attendants may win three prizes of 1,000 euros each. This area aims at giving visibility to new creators and their projects, to allow them to set bonds with the community of players and to get a valuable feedback from gamers and from companies in the sector, developers or media.
Additionally, the institution participates in a tournament of the most popular videogame of the moment, Fortnite. This will be the largest competition held so far in Spain, with a customized bus identical to that in the game. The 400 participants may win prizes of 4,500 euros. To round off, the Fornite Epic Match will be held on Saturday, a match with the participation of 50 youtubers and influencers, such as Lolito FDEZ, together with 50 visitors to the festival in a unique exhibition.
Unicaja Banco’s participation in this event falls within the support that the financial institution provides to entrepreneurship and to new emerging business models, as well as to young digital talent. It also shows its support to the young and to the promotion and fostering of actions leading to an improvement of the educational and training offer in the areas where it operates.
The collaboration of the financial institution with this festival also falls within its support to sport and leisure events which, as Gamepolis 2018, gather thousands of young people interested in new technologies and e-sports, as well as the within the support to the design, organization and promotion in the area of entertainment and technology. Likewise, this collaboration is part of the actions carried out within the framework of the digital transformation fostered by Unicaja Banco.
Activities of Gamepolis 2018
With over 40,000 visitors in the 2017 edition, Gamepolis is the largest videogame festival in Andalusia. The different areas cover all the aspects of videogames: Zona Expo, tournaments, cosplay, Zona Indie, retro, conferences by experts, concerts and presentation of international new releases by companies such as Nintendo and Square Enix.
Those visiting Gamepolis will have the opportunity to play the latest releases by Nintendo, including the highly anticipated Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, as well as FIFA 19, Splatoon 2 (Octo Expansion), Dragon Ball FighterZ and Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, in Nintendo Switch. In this line, gamers will also enjoy the new Shadow of the Tomb Raider, which will be released on 14 September.
As for conferences, these will cover a wide range of topics, such as the narrative legacy of the Final Fantasy saga, the impact of the Pokémon phenomenon, the creation of maps for games and the role of the legendary company Dinamic during the golden years of videogames in Spain, with a speech given by its founder Víctor Ruiz. Concerts by the bands Enocguitar and NPC’s and Games Waves Band will also take place.
With regard to e-sports, players and teams as Team Queso, x6tence, Mad Lion and Team Heretics will compete for over 25,000 euros in tournaments of League of Legends or Call of Duty: WWII, among other activities. As parallel activities, there will be a cockfight between four of the best freestylers of Spain, and the Zona Retro, with an exhibition of more than 250 gaming consoles from the 70s to nowadays, just to mention a few activities.
